Mine is to bake the cake
Chocolate Raspberry. Her favorite.
Our mom was murdered and I don't have kids yet, so we don't really celebrate.
Since I only made enough money to keep a roof over my head and some food on my plate, I don't get to visit mom; she only gets a phone call.
Before I moved to Esquin we used to take her to dinner and see a movie of her choice.

I bought my mother some flowers and a new antique lamp for her collection. My brother and I are taking her out for a nice brunch. Unfortunately, I don't like my brother or his snobby family, but I have to put up with them for Mom's sake.
"Antique lamp?" Wait a minute, Ricky. You don't mean the one with the silver inlays, that you bought last Thursday, do you? I thought it was for me.
No, Kalila, I told you when I bought it that it was for Mom. Weren't you listening?
Why should I listen to anything a human has to say? The lamp is mine. I've already decorated.

So, here in the States it's Mother's Day? At least I don't have to bother about that. I'd feel so phony sending even a card to my Mum. It's not that I hate her or anything, it's just that being around her is so depressing! I feel low even thinking about her!

Being a mother is my most favorite thing.
Uncle Will made sure I knew it was Mother's Day - most of the time he gives me space (and makes me eat and walk) today he gave me hell. Not the one size fit's all variety of firey bar-b-que - he gave me a Mother's Day card to write - I bet it seemed like a good idea in his head. Got a date with a razor blade.
