The future of CIC

Hi guys,

Well sorry to have such an 'un-fun' post for labor day, but I'm freaking out. I just found out school starts a week earlier than I thought. Doesn't seem like much, but it made it feel more real.

Here's my schedule, with work, school and internship combined:

M and W: 6 a.m - 10 p.m.
Tu: 6 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Thurs and Fri: 6 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Sat: All freaking day!

That doesn't include reading, studying and papers.

I've been going back and forth on CIC all summer. I've sent poor Ann e-mails: I just can't do this! And I really think I can't. I was going to post and not worry about the site, but even thinking about posting feels like too much.

Ann has been incredible, but there's no way that she can do the site alone.

So, I'm asking for help; if people would be willing to take over posting a day a week, or even alternate. I would need to cover Wed, Friday and the weekend.

I realize people are also super-busy, so if folks can't do it, that's completely understandable.

If we can't find someone, we'll need to close the site or put it on hiatus at the end of the month. It's been a really fun ride, and I've gotten to know some amazing characters, so even if it's been a short run, it's been definitely worth it!

Oh, and I want to take another moment to acknowledge Ann again. She really has been amazingly awesome. Thank you so much, Ann!

Let me take that back... you need someone for Wed, Fri, and Sat, correct?

I could do one of those days... any of them. I have no early classes this semester.

Wow, Christine, really?? That would be amazing. Thank you so much!!!

Let's talk by e-mail, we can see what would work for you.

Thank you!!!!!!!!

Ann, you ARE awesome. I keep forgetting you're an admin because you post so much in character. And I love the characters!

Mira, you're even MORE awesome, because this was all your idea.

We'll miss your quirky, energetic posts when you can't be here as often.

I don't know if I'm particularly amazing, but I just wanted everyone to know that I had always meant the Maelstrom site to be more interactive, so if we can't work something out to keep CIC going, you're welcome at my place, in character or out.

I have a full-time job and my publisher and I are starting the edits for my novel, so I'm afraid I can't give much more time to CIC admin than I already do.

Luckily, just doing one post a week isn't a terrible hardship. We only need a handful of people to commit to "their" day. You can even queue up your posts in advance, which is great if you aren't able to actually do a live post in the morning.

I believe shy would say, "many hands makes light work," so if you have 20 minutes a week to create a CIC post, let us know!

I could help, too! I'd hate to see CIC close up shop, especially when I'm just getting into it...

Ann - that's really exciting about your edit!

Laura - THANK YOU!! I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. You're great. Wow, I'm feeling really grateful right now.

Thanks Christine. You are a real asset to the site. I missed you alot during the summer.

So, what I think I'll do is e-mail anyone who is interested as a group, and we can work out the details.

I will say that I agree with Ann. It doesn't take that long to set up a post. I think it's sort of fun, too, because it's writing, and I like to play with pictures.

I'll also say that anyone who joins will get full creative license. So, you can play around with different things - which can be fun to do as well.

Just to let folks know - I never figured out how to post the stat counter but we do get an average of 42 unique vistors daily. There have been times we got up to 100 or more. So, there is more activity than meets the eye!

I'm very happy right now. :)

My first time to visit your blog and your talking about quiting. Gotta tell ya I'm not to happy about that. This looks like a place I would like to visit regularly and often.
I'll be back.

Please come back, Grayquill! We have a great time here. The authors are just working on some administrative issues.

And, we could use some masculine influence. Too many chicks around here. Although Bo probably doesn't think so.

Cool Grayquill.

Glad you'll be back. Always nice to see new folks.

Maybe I should make this comment on another post, but I would like Mira to know that I awarded her with the Kreative Blogger award, and by extension the rest of the site. I love it by the way. Been trolling for a little while and just got around to adding it recently.

P.S. Not sure if trollings the right word. This is actually the first time I've used it.

Word Verification: Yogis, as if one smarter than the average bear wasn't enough.

Ryan, on behalf of the site, I'm am really honored. Thank you so much!!

And I absolutely don't think it's trolling - lurking, I think is the correct term - and you're welcome to do that. But it's also cool if you want to come join us - it's fun, and you can even do it quietly as another character.

Btw, we're looking for posters, so don't be shy if that interests you....

Thanks again for the acknowledgement!

Very honored.

Ryan can't be shy, because somebody else is already Shy!

(sorry, I couldn't resist)
