Social Weekend: Hawaiian Luau!

Member Aidan suggested we all go to the beach! What a great idea in August!

But here at CIC, when we go to the beach, well, we go to the beach. And you know what that means: Hawaii, baby!

If you don't have a beach, or don't have Hawaii where you live, here is what it looks like. You can go swimming in all the beautiful blue-green liquid.

You can play games. That's a ball, and it's sitting on something called sand. You throw the ball back and forth. Oddly enough, it's fun.

Sometimes, you can go under the blue-green liquid and look at the beautiful life forms that exist there. Look, but don't touch. They're slimy.

After all that running around, you can re-energize with what we call yummy food. That means Luau!

While we eat, we can light a fire and tell ghost stories. Note: If you're a ghost, let us know. You can tell us a story about yourself.
We've arranged for entertainment. People stand up and wiggle around. It's delightful. Not just watching them wiggle, but wiggling yourself.
So, here we are. It's August, it's beach time, so le'ts Luau, baby! Drop by anytime this weekend and join in!

Last time a brought a cow, and you humans did not like this.

I did not make the same mistake this time. I learn from my mistakes.

I brought a boar. Roasted pig for a Luau!

It is his Destiny.

I'm here. I love a pig roast. I've never been to a luau before.

Hm, I can't quite reach that spot on my back to rub sunscreen on it.

Where is everyone? I guess I'll put on my SPF 50 shirt and go looking for shells.

Oh my goodness! Something just charged at me from out of the brush over there... it's like a big bear or something. Do they have bears in Hawaii?

Wait a minute... that's not a bear. It's a boar! Destiny brought a live boar! I'm not eating a live wild pig. It's staring at me!

Please tell me this is a topless beach...otherwise I'm going to be very under dressed...LOL!

What a wonderful place! I've only been to Bournemouth with my parents and I hated it. Everyone sat around, Mum in her dress and dad in his suit (he did take his jacket off) both reading the newspaper.
I raced out and bought a swim-suit as soon as I heard about this; I've never worn so little in public and it feels fabulous! You can even see the small tattoo on my left hip.
Who'll come for a swim? I don't know how but I'll give it a bash!
Hey, Ginger, did you bring any of your yummy cakes?

Wheee!

This is my kind of place! Anyone mind if I borrow a few of those hula dancers for awhile? Didn't think so. See ya!

I want to play with the beach ball. That looks like fun! Who wants to join me?

Ricky said...

Can anyone play the ukulele? That would be very authentic.

Kalila?

Kalila said...

You want me to play that thing, Ricky? It doesn't look at all like my Stratocaster. But it looks like the basic principal is the same. I guess I could give it a try. Is magic allowed?

Ricky said...

I don't think there are any rules here about magic. Just give us some music.

Someone better watch Bo...He's had a little too much to drink!

Nevin, would you put some sunscreen on my back so I can go in the water.

Wait for me, Candy! Only, those waves look pretty big. Did anyone bring a surf board?

Nevin said...

I'm happy to help, Ginger, but you really shouldn't worry. Kalila is a very good healer and can easily fix sunburn.

Ginger said...

But Nevin, I don't want to get burned in the first place. It's very painful.

Thanks for the help! Right there, between my shoulder blades. Perfect!

Aidan said...

Great idea guys. And no one cares if I wear a shirt. :)

Marc said...

Shorts are not optional, mate.

Jason said...

I brought a couple surfboards. Anyone for a ride?

Lucy said...

I want Bo to put sunscreen on me.

Gabby said...

Hi everyone, it's me, Gabby! I escaped for the day and Wow, is it ever great to swim again. And to see all of you! C'n I try a surfboard. Jason? Oh man, this is so good!

Laura Martone said...

Is that safe, Lucy? No telling what might happen if Bo gets his hands on the sunscreen. Seems he's already molested a few hula girls. They're just not swaying as well as they were earlier.

Candy said...

Come on, Ginger, that stuff'll just wash off .
Any sharks here,by the way?

J.J. Bennett said...

Shorts are optional when it comes to Bo...Sorry. Could someone bring me another drink?...

J.J. Bennett said...

Oh, if anyone is in the need of cash...I have a very small little contest on my blog.

Hi, everybody!

Even though Michael and I LIVE on the beach, we decided to take this chance for a weekend getaway in Hawaii. We've never been before, so thanks for the wonderful idea!

We even managed to leave the kids with our treasure-hunting pal, Joe. And we've brought mojitos! Anybody want one?

J.J. Bennett said...

I was was just asking for a drink. Thanks!

Aidan said...

Please on the mojito, and see, Marc? Shorts are optional.

Jason said...

Who's up for surfing lessons with me and Gabby?

J.J. Bennett said...

Okay but don't laugh at me... let me finish this drink first.

Olivia Harper said...

Here are your mojitos, J.J. and Aidan!

And, yes, Jason, I would love a lesson. While I appreciate the warm waters of the gulf, we never have the kind of waves needed for a bit of surfing!

J.J. Bennett said...

Thanks Olivia...

Mmmm...They're great!

Aidan said...

Wow you guys look like experts on the boards already.

Who's up for crashing here tonight?

Olivia Harper said...

Well, Michael and I have nowhere else to be, so we'll stick around... can we camp on the beach, under the stars? Or will the Hawaiian authorities cart us away?

Gabby said...

I've gotta get back before they notice I've gone. Thanks tons, Jason, that was really something! Sorry i lost my shorts in that last plunge, I've lost weight and they were hard to keep up anyway. Thanks for the towel, Nevin, I might have had to stay in the water till it got dark but for you.
Bye, All
