You Tell Me: What's New?

I know we have a weekly "What are you doing now?" discussion, but let's do something slightly different. Today, let's share the new things in our lives.

Do you have a new friend? A new pair of shoes? A new idea or plan?

Is there something new you're searching for, like a new job or a new outfit for an upcoming special occasion?

Tell us what's new so we can share the fun!

Does a new episode count? My newest adventure just got posted to our website THIS MORNING! It's a pretty good one, too; I think. It's called Stormy Weather, and I think there's more than one storm brewing in it!

Beyond that, if the little stirrings I've been hearing are true, there's a whole new over-arcing plot twist coming down the author's pipes. That should be exciting!

Congrats, Derek. How about new bruises? I've got a few of those from trying to catch that carjacker this morning! Guess I should expect that from jumping onto the back of a speeding mustang that's being stolen! Worst thing about it, the guy got away. Well no, worst thing is the owner of the car blamed me for stealing it! No gratitude at all. What's this world coming to? At least it's all just a game. I think.

I have two new shadows and I'm finding them kind of obnoxious.

Hey, you try following you around for three days and then you'll realize why we handcuffed you to the bed last night. Sheesh. I just wanted a good night's sleep for once.

My author finally has a photo to put up, that is when she finally figures out how to do it. I could do it in a flash but she wants to do it all by herself.

Candy, your comment shows why I'm the writer and you're just a character. Look at all those repetitions! Maybe we could swap lessons.

Aw, now Jil, be nice to Candy. She wasn't trying to write poetic prose, she was just talking. Her statement, when compared to real conversation, is completely reasonable. People do tend to be rather repetitive, after all. Just look at that demon guy in the band. How often does he say something that isn't sex? Moreover, many, perhaps most, people and characters have catchphrases that help make up their own voice. The most prominent in recent pop culture would be the "valley-girl-buffy-the-brain-killer" stereotype that implants "like" into every third word space, but even something as simple as Scooby Doo has words like "Jinkies" that appear quite often and help set the voice of those characters.

Besides, I like Candy; she's nice.

I'm with David. I think Candy's nice, too. :-)

As for me, I got a new bike this weekend. I've already used it twice - and have the sore legs to prove it! Hey, it's not that I'm outta shape - it's just that there are a lot of rocky hills around my house.

Well, good for you, dear author. You need to get out more - and away from your computer.

As for me, I finished a new painting this past weekend. Does that count?

David Jace said...

What is it a painting of?

Olivia Harper said...

I appreciate your interest, David. It's an Impressionistic landscape painting of the desolate sand dunes at the northern end of South Padre Island... at sunset, of course, when the dunes are at their prettiest. It's actually a birthday present for my mom, Devi, who turns 74 next month!

Devi Marconi said...

Thanks, honey. I can't wait to see it!

Olivia Harper said...

Oh, darn it, Mom. I didn't mean to give the surprise away... I should've realized you'd be lurking. (wink)

Don't worry about it, baby. I still look forward to seeing it - no doubt, it will brighten my little cave bedroom.

Yes! I finally got on paper!!!! Woohooo! What's new with me? I'll TELL you. Author finally wrote me into the novel! I got my first scene down in black and white! I mean, don't get me wrong, it isn't much. It's just a little phone call, but still. I'm IN there!

I got away for a night. Heh.

I wish they still showed movies at Red Rocks. As it is, I snuck in there to run around for awhile. Some hippies took it over, all drugged up. They didn't even know I was there.

Jil said...

Candy won't teach me - can any of you please tell me how to put my photo on my profile or whatever. I've got it on my desktop...now I'm stuck

Marc said...

Hey Jil,
You should be able to just download it onto the site via blogger. If you go to your page that has the info about you (hometown, likes, books, movies, etc) there should be a link to upload a photo in the upper left hand corner.

Hope this helps.

Jil said...

Thanks, Marc, I think it worked! It's a bit big though, is that usual?

Jil said...

Hey, it popped up here too, the proper size..Many thanks!

Aidan said...

He is a geek, so I figured he'd be able to help you.

Back in the day he ran IT for Sentinel.

Karen (Digital Angel) said...

Just for the record, I was going to help, too, but I got here too late. I would've been happy to help you, Jil. I'm a bit of a geek, too. Nothing like running space programs or anything, but I can do the basic stuff.

I was resently taken over by a demon and I saw a light and stayed strong and remembered about Daniel. I thought if I die Daniel will be tourchered by the demons and if we both die the whole world will be in trouble. Then when I woke up Daniel got me a assistent and there was something strange about her. Then when we did not need her she got mad and went to the demons and is planning to attack us and she knows everything. So we came up with a new plan and we are ready to fight them.
