You and Your World: The Afterlife

Happy Monday, Characters! Today, let's talk about something that might be a sensitive subject for some of you: The Afterlife.

Does your culture believe in an afterlife? Do you? If so, what is it like and do you have to do anything special to get there (other than die, of course)?

Tell us all about what you think happens when we pass on.

I'd like to believe in an afterlife, but I wouldn't mind still believing in Father Christmas and the Tooth Fairy too.

I've got to believe in an afterlife else how will I ever tell my great aunt the results of this journey I'm on? All pretty useless if we just dropped off the edge of life into nothing - might as well just curl up and...no that wouldn't work would it.

Nope, everything I do is with the thought of telling her about it later. Now if she hadn't gone and died I might think differently so I guess she made a believer out of me!

Our afterlife consists of being a slave to a full-blood demon general. So I'm not ready to head there anytime soon.

I don't know, Bro. I like to think that maybe you and I together could beat Asmodai at his own game.

I know Sentinel is working on a way to sever the link between life and our power. If we could carry the Knot into our death, sort of brand it into our souls, that could protect us.

Dude, they've been working on that for two centuries. If there was a way to bind us to Sentinel in the afterlife, it'd be done.

Sometimes, I wish I could believe in an afterlife. Then, maybe I'd be certain of seeing my loved ones again, especially my father, who died when I was just a little girl, some 65 years ago. But, despite my mother's extreme piety - or maybe because of it - I'm a staunch atheist. No God, no afterlife for me.

And I'm afraid that I passed such a belief system on to my daughter, Olivia.

Actually, Mom, I'm grateful to you. Being an atheist has made me more appreciative of life - and more inspired to live every moment to the fullest. After all, if this life is it for me, I might as well make it count.

Hey, wait, I'm an atheist, too. I'm beginning to see a pattern here. Which way do you think our author bends?

So, you ladies found me out. I might come from a Catholic family, but I've been an atheist my whole life. As a kid, Santa made more sense to me than God. So, nope, no afterlife for me.

Day to day, being an atheist doesn't bother me. I might not believe in God and the hereafter, but I still have a supreme wonder for this world... and the universe beyond.

It's hard, though, whenever I lose someone. Just recently, my grandpa passed away... and the loss was especially difficult for me, given that I don't believe I'll ever see him again. While talking about his death with my dad, he said, "Well, at least he's been reunited with Mom," to which I replied, "I wish I could believe that." Then, Dad surprised me when he said, "Yeah, me, too."

Well, since all the angels and the Hand of You-Know-Who came and grabbed all the good people off the earth a year ago, I guess you could call me a believer. Even though I sense our dead all the time anyway. But demidemons aren't welcome Upstairs, so it's Hell for us.

So I'll see Dad again, but not Mom (she went with the Grab) and never mind that his demonic nature will completely have taken over and he'll just want to rip my head off. That'll be the best part about dying.

What I think about the after life is that its real and the only waay you could get there is by dieing. I also think you got to either heaven or hell become and angel or become a demon a faithful servent to the devil.I think that the angeles got it easy and the demons got it hard and there jallious of the angeles because they live in heaven an it is nice and easy and in hell its hard and hot. I all I really know is that we all go to heaven or hell when we enter the after life.

I do believe in afterlife.I do believe in afterlife because life is forever and infinity.(That is what I believe.)I believe in heaven as well as for hell.I'm a catholic and believe in God,so he is the one that made living things. So anyways I do believe in afterlife because heaven is part of afterlife. And so is hell.So it depends if you are good in life or bad in life. You are the one that gets to chose if you want to go to heaven or hell.IT'S YOUR DECISION.
