Although not everyone here recognizes Thanksgiving – officially, an American holiday that stretches back to the Pilgrim days – I thought it might be pleasant to come together for a celebration of our own. After all, we don’t really need to use an official holiday as an excuse to be merry, eat yummy treats, and show gratitude for all the people, creatures, places, and things that we hold dear.
So, pass around the turkey and stuffing – or whatever delicacies you treasure – and let’s have a party!
As always, all are welcome – including busy authors and sun-challenged characters alike!

Oh, looks like we're the first ones here! Guess that's usually the case when food is involved. Us Harpers rarely turn down a party.
We've brought a smoked ham, some stuffing, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. Hope everyone's hungry!
I know I am... how long do we have to wait for the others to show up?
Daryl! Where are your manners?
Please, Sam. Daryl left those back in puberty.
Arf! Arf! Yum! Yum! Arf! Arf!
Down, boy. We'll eat in a little while. The others haven't arrived yet.
Hey, guys, why don't we get everything set up for them?
We'll help!
Meg! Indy! I'm so glad you two could join us.
As if we'd turn down a social gathering... with food, no less!
I hope it's okay that we brought a big salad... and some apple cider. Figured we could afford to be a little healthy, even for a Thanksgiving celebration.
Sounds great! Let's add it to the spread.
Hi, everyone! Would it be rude if I went straight to the pie?
I brought some mashed potatoes and some scotch!
Is that a normal food combination for your kind, Ricky? I thought you liked waffles.
I do, Kalila, but not at every meal.
You humans make no sense at all. I'll have some scotch, though.
I'm confused, Ricky, are we supposed to mix the scotch and potatoes? Sounds intriguing.
Did someone say waffles?
Welcome, everyone! So glad you could join us... and by all means, Nevin, have a slice of pie. I'm not your mama - can't make you eat your vegetables first. So, enjoy!
See, Ricky? I'm not the only one who's confused. You can't say this is a djinn thing and another example of how I misunderstand your culture.
Meg, don't worry about the potatoes. Enjoy the scotch and I'll conjure us some waffles.
Yahoo! Waffles! This is turning out to be my kinda Thanksgiving. Thanks, Kalila.
Daryl, you can be such a doofus sometimes...
Hi everyone! Sorry we're late! I'm also confused about the scotch and mash potatoes, but I guess it's worth a try.
We brought some chocolate pie, and pecan pralines.
OMG! I love pecan pralines. Never quite got my fill as a girl in New Orleans. Thanks, Alexander!
I brought some "cloud pie." It's my favorite dish - eggs, cream, herbs and whipped potatoes baked together.
My author sent a Black Forest cake. She says it's inspiration. I suppose the authors will know what that means. It looks quite delicious, though I've never eaten a black cake before. What is that strange dark stuff on top?
Is it chocolate? I've never had chocolate.
Mmm... black forest cakes are delicious. We make them often in Ruby Hollow. Thanks, Marenya's author!
Mom! You and Jesse made it! What a wonderful Thanksgiving...
Yeah, sneaking out of the Hollow is getting to be a habit... but we couldn't miss Thanksgiving, could we?
Hey everyone! Happy Thanksgiving!
I'm bringing pizza. That's what students eat, right?
Um, I have some beer in the trunk....I'll bring that in too.
I like turkey. And Marc fixes a good one, but they think we're nuts, being Brits. They think turkey belongs only at Christmas.
Please pass the stuffing. I'm starved!
I hope you made a lot of stuffing. Aidan always eats more than his fair share.
Yeah, well, you always eat all the corn and potatoes, so whatever, Kae.
Puff! Puff!
I got lost finding you. I'm not used to turkey 'ltil Christmas either but it smells terrific! I brought along a trifle. Actually I stole it from the Empress hotel kitchen and that's why I'm late. All that sneaking around and covering it up to get out through the lobby unnoticed... It's super though. I tested it En route.
So nice to see you all. Hugs to everyone. How do I look without my Goth stuff? I feel weird. Lighter somehow...
Hi everyone
My mom made some pecan pie.
Shadow
HI everyone. I brought lots of fruit. Pineapple, peaches, Mangoes, starfruit, raspberries. All perfectly ripe as everything always is in the Wood. I stood on the Unicorn's back to pick them. Wow, I'm starving! I'd like some of everything please.
Hey, Candy, is that you? You look weird!
You look beautiful, Candy.
Stop looking at me like that, Kae. She does.
I am not on time.
I needed to find 500 turkeys.
It was their Destiny.
Here are the turkeys. I hope someone brought an axe.
It is the turkey's Destiny to run very quickly.
Here, turkey, turkey. Come to Destiny, turkey.
Hey Des! Where ya been?
So much food! But this was a lovely feast. I'm stuffed!
Me, too, Nevin. I always vow I'm going to eat less each year, but I always seem to cave.
Wow! I can't believe how much food we all brought... I feel like a stuffed turkey, too.
Oh, and Candy, I agree with Aidan. You look lovely. Have you abandoned the Goth phase, or was it just not right for Turkey Day?
Well, Jesse and I should head back to Kentucky. Hopefully, no one's noticed our absence in the Hollow.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
Thanks for coming, Mom. Good to see you and Jesse, especially on Thanksgiving. Have a safe trip back.
Well, Michael, perhaps we should be heading home, too.
That's right. Black Friday sales begin in a few hours... and I know how much you love those.
You're kidding, right, Dad? Mom hates to shop.
I think that was Dad's attempt at sarcasm, little sis. But I could be wrong.
Bye, everyone!
Aidan,
I am everywhere. You have only to look for me.
Destiny is here.
